About Jared

Jared is a partner with the firm's litigation practice group. Jared focuses his practice on complex business litigation, trials, and appeals, with a particular emphasis on business competition issues, intellectual property disputes, banking litigation, and franchise litigation.  Jared has had primary responsibility for handling all aspects of complex litigation matters in federal and state courts throughout the country.  In particular, Jared has substantial experience litigating and counseling clients regarding restrictive covenant and trade secret issues. Jared is also experienced in representing financial institutions and other commercial lenders in a variety of litigation, arbitrations, and appeals, including in consumer and commercial lending litigation and mortgage litigation matters.


Prior to joining the firm, Jared was an associate with the Boston office of an AmLaw 25 international firm and with the Atlanta office of a national firm.


Jared received his A.B., cum laude, in Government from Harvard in 2001, after graduating in three years. He obtained his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School in 2004. Jared has completed internships with both the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois and the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office, Regulated Industries Division.



Representative Engagements

  • Represented subsidiary of medical diagnostic provider in multi-jurisdiction litigation regarding non-competition agreements and unfair competition claims.
  • Represented international franchisor in litigation relating to alleged transfer of franchise rights and wrongful termination claims.
  • Successfully assisted client, after being retained post-trial, in vacating multi-million dollar jury verdict and obtaining new trial through post-trial motions. Subsequently represented client in six-day jury trial that resulted in a complete defense verdict.
  • Defended financial institutions in various matters involving claims for fraud, conversion, defamation, breach of fiduciary duty, negligence, breach of contract, and other claims.
  • Represented commercial lender in putative nationwide class action relating to lending practices.
  • Obtained dismissal of all claims bought by borrower against home mortgage lender under Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP) based on lack of private right of action and affirmance by Eleventh Circuit.
