Newsroom - July 2011

John Parker, Bob Brennan, Tom Watry and Raj Shah are part of a team of lawyers who are representing longstanding client Phoebe Putney Health System in defending the proposed acquisition of Palmyra Medical Center from antitrust enforcement. After the Federal Trade Commission and the Georgia Attorney General brought suit in federal district court seeking to enjoin the acquisition of Palmyra, Phoebe successfully convinced the district court judge to dismiss the FTC and AG's lawsuit on the grounds that the proposed acquisition was immune from antitrust enforcement under the "state action" doctrine. The FTC has appealed the district court's decision to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, where we will continue to represent Phoebe Putney Health System and its affiliates.
