Eric Anderson has been appointed to the Board of Directors for Meritas, a global alliance of business law firms. Eric was elected to the position during the alliance's recent annual meeting.

In his role as a board member, Eric will be responsible for reviewing and establishing policy and setting strategy for the alliance. Eric will also act as an organizational leader, serving as a liaison to member firms on administrative issues. He will maintain contact with members, encourage and promote cross communications, and gather feedback on Meritas initiatives. Eric will serve a three-year term, during which time he will also serve on the Finance Committee. The Meritas Board of Directors is comprised of 21 lawyers from its member firms around the world.

Eric has been involved with Meritas for nearly 10 years, during which time he has served as a member of the Finance Committee and the Financial Services Section Steering Committee, and has spoken on numerous panels at Meritas meetings.

Eric concentrates his practice in bankruptcy, workouts, financial restructuring and commercial finance, representing financial institutions, secured asset-based lenders and other parties in bankruptcy and financial restructuring matters in and out of bankruptcy, debtor-in-possession financing, purchase and sale of assets of distressed companies, and various related transactions. Eric is a 1982 graduate with distinction of the University of Wisconsin and earned his J.D. degree cum laude in 1986, from the University of Wisconsin Law School. Eric is a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy, is a member of the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Bankruptcy Law Institute, and the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Bar Association, and is a past Chair of the Atlanta Bar Association Bankruptcy Section.

Eric has been selected as one of Georgia's Legal Elite in 2007-2012, and has been listed as a "Georgia Super Lawyer" in Atlanta Magazine. He has also been recognized by Chambers USA as one of America's leading lawyers for business in 2007-2012, and by Best Lawyers in America for 2012.
