Wayne Hillis and John Mitchell obtained a complete victory for a broker-dealer after a four-day evidentiary hearing in New Orleans, Louisiana. The claimants – a prominent New Orleans lawyer, businessman, and professional investor and his three investment LLCs – requested $1.9 million in compensatory damages and $3.8 million in punitive damages relating to their purchases of four high-yield bond funds from 2002-2007. The arbitration panel dismissed all of the claimants' claims, and ordered claimants to pay $240,000 in attorneys' fees and costs to the broker-dealer and $17,250 in forum fees.
