Newsroom - March 2014

Ken Kraft, David Heaton, J. P. Fougerousse and Kathryn Hauch, attorneys with the firm’s Real Estate practice group, recently represented Rubenstein Partners in a 450,000 square foot lease transaction with Lenovo’s Enterprise Business Group for property located in the Research Triangle Park (RTP) of Raleigh, North Carolina.

In January, Lenovo announced a deal to acquire IBM’s low-end server business based, which is based in the RTP. Immediately after the announcement, Lenovo began an expedited search for a proximate facility to house this new operation. Rubenstein Partners and Lenovo quickly reached an agreement to lease the entire Nexus property, the former Sony Ericsson campus that Rubenstein and Grubb Properties (Charlotte) purchased in 2013.

The Parker Hudson Real Estate team drafted, negotiated and completed the complex lease/development transaction in less than two weeks! In addition to leasing the existing office buildings, the transaction contemplates an additional 30,000 square foot lab building to be constructed.
