Recruiting Law Students

Every summer, Parker, Hudson hosts a summer clerkship program for law students. Summer clerks are invited to spend up to ten weeks at the firm doing interesting and substantive work projects. Assignments given to summer clerks are designed to provide a realistic preview of what it is like to practice law as an associate at the firm. We offer hands-on client interaction, such as attending depositions, hearings, client meetings and transactional closings, so that summer clerks are exposed to the sophisticated nature of the firm's clients and practice areas. In addition to work assignments, we invite summer clerks to participate in social events in order to get to know the attorneys at the firm as well as the cultural and social aspects of the City of Atlanta.

On-Campus Recruiting

Each Fall, our attorneys visit law schools and job fairs to recruit candidates to fill summer clerk positions. We also welcome applications from law students attending law schools at which we do not conduct on-campus interviews.

Call-Back Interview Process

Following the on-campus interview process or job fair interviews, the firm invites qualified candidates to come to Atlanta and have a half-day of interviews at the firm. Typically, a student will arrive in Atlanta the afternoon before the call-back interviews in time to go to dinner with some of our attorneys. Candidates will spend the night in a local Atlanta hotel and then come to the firm the following morning or afternoon for a half-day of interviews. Alternative interview schedules are available upon request. Call-back interview logistics are handled by the firm and at the expense of the firm.

After call-back interviews, the firm will let candidates know whether they will receive an offer to join the firm's summer clerkship program.

Information about our Summer Clerkship Program

If given an offer, students are invited to spend between a minimum of 6 weeks, up to a maximum of 10 weeks at the firm. Students invited to return to the firm for a second summer will spend a minimum of 4 weeks, up to a maximum of 10 weeks at the firm. Students wishing to split their summer with another law firm are required to spend the first half of the summer at Parker, Hudson.

A mentor is provided to assist each summer clerk during his or her time at our firm. Summer clerks rotate through the firm's various practice groups and work on a variety of legal projects in an effort to expose them to the different practice groups of our firm and to as many attorneys as possible.

"When looking for summer employment my 2L year, I knew I wanted to look at mid-sized firms that could offer young associates substantial roles on complex matters. During my summer with Parker Hudson, I had the opportunity to work with each practice group and got a feel for the kind of work and responsibility associates were entrusted with at the firm. I was excited that my work over the summer was not limited to research projects, but rather, I was tasked with both critical analysis and drafting projects. By the end of the summer, I knew the firm was a good fit for me because I was genuinely invested in the outcomes of the cases I had worked on. "

“Parker Hudson’s summer program provided me the opportunity to work on substantive projects where I was able to meaningfully contribute to the project’s overall success. Through my work, I felt part of the team and had significant interaction with the partners in each group. In addition to the great work experience, the weekly social events and interactions with the partners, associates, and staff made me confident that Parker Hudson was the right fit for me.”
