Overview

Mary Beth Stevenson has established a nationally respected commercial real estate practice centered on proactive problem-solving, unwavering client accessibility, and seamless collaboration with stakeholders to efficiently achieve the desired results. She represents industry leaders across the country in the industrial, office, retail, hospitality, and mixed-use sectors where she advises on real estate acquisition, development, disposition, and lease transactions.

Mary Beth’s extensive background includes handling complex real estate litigation, such as title insurance defense claims, quiet title actions, and contract disputes. This experience enhances her proficiency in underwriting and title curative matters, positioning her as a trusted advisor on multifaceted real estate deals.

A dedicated community advocate, Mary Beth devotes significant time to supporting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. She served as an Emerging Leader and continues her work as an ambassador and fundraiser.

Experience

  • Served as lead counsel for a portfolio of over 150 North American industrial and office locations for a construction services company.*
  • Worked as co-lead counsel for The Home Depot, interfacing with its legal and real estate departments regarding its industrial and retail properties throughout the U.S., including:
    • Represented The Home Depot in a build-to-suit sublease from Trammel Crow (ground leasing from The Port of Stockton, CA) of 59 acres and a rail-served 655,200-square-foot bulk distribution and flatbed distribution center.*
    • Represented The Home Depot in negotiation of a Purchase and Sale Agreement for the acquisition of 8.8 acres of land in a retail development in Penitas, Texas, for construction of a retail store.*
  • Quarterback all North American real estate legal needs for BrandSafway with an emphasis on leasing, acquisition/disposition and condemnation actions affecting over 150 locations, including short lease amendments and negotiating the acquisition of a key 6.6 acre facility in British Columbia (with Canadian co-counsel) from a receiver for $29 million.*
  • Represented RealOp in a forward sale by Scannell of 94 acres and a to-be constructed 978,000-square-foot warehouse in Groveland, Florida, for $96 million.*
  • Represented a family office in various transactions for 30+ convenience stores located throughout the southeast, including buying, selling, leasing, financing, and managing environmental and condemnation matters.*
  • Negotiated numerous ground and space leases on behalf of landlords and tenants, including The Home Depot, Take 5 Oil Change, Sam’s Xpress Carwash, The Orden Company (formerly Thrifty Oil), and PureCycle.*
  • Served as lead counsel for multiple real estate investment firms with holdings that span all commercial asset classes.*
  • Counseled a quick oil change franchisee on all real estate and franchise matters, including leasing and development of new locations and construction matters.*
  • Represented a national restaurant group, advancing those brands with new ground leases and resolving issues regarding existing locations.*
  • Represented a California-based foodservice corporation in the ground-up development of four hotel properties, several large retail centers, and an industrial facility.*
  • Handled a real estate litigation caseload of insurance defense claims, quiet title actions, contract disputes, and commercial evictions. *
